Singer-songwriter “aMaRo” calls his self-invented musical style “Melancholic Softrock”, in which he tries to combine pop and rock while sounding as modern as possible.
He writes authentic, profound, and poetic lyrics about love, about life as he perceives it, and about his faith in God.
His songs express a special kind of melancholy that is genuine and full of hope.
His second studio album is titled “This is for You!” and is dedicated to all his fans and every single listener—especially those who feel sad or lonely—and aims to give them hope, strength, and a good feeling about life.
aMaRo, whose real name is Friedemann Ziems, works as a peer support worker in an open psychiatric ward, as a guitar teacher, and as an actor.
Friedemann Ziems began taking lessons in cello and classical guitar at the age of six, continuing for a total of seven years.
From the fifth grade, he attended the music-focused Georg-Friedrich-Händel High School, where he played cello in the school orchestra and acquired extensive knowledge of music theory, which he now skillfully applies to his songwriting.
In 1999, Friedemann Ziems won first prize at the international guitar festival of the BAJA Art Institute in Templin.
At the age of 14, he began writing his own songs and founded his first band with friends. In the following years, he played in various rock and metal bands as an electric guitarist.
Since 2010, he has identified as the singer-songwriter aMaRo, recording his first studio tracks and taking part in many jam sessions, open mics, and competitions. In 2015, he began working as a guitar teacher.
Since October 2022, aMaRo has been hosting his own weekly open mic event, The Golden Mic.
